Dealing With A Difficult & Trying Time

Scriptures
When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. (‭Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭2‬ NLT)

Application

If there is anything that this life has taught us, it is that we will all go through difficult and trying times. It is an equal opportunity event that doesn’t discriminate whether you are a believer or not. We experience heartaches and heartbreaks of varying degrees. Having Jesus as our Lord doesn’t exempt us from the difficulties of life.

I have had my own shares of tragedies as well. It is because we live in a broken world that is still reeling from the impact of sin at the fall in the garden of Eden. Over the past one year I lost my sister-in-law, then my brother seven months later leaving behind four orphaned children.  I am sure you have had your own share of loss as well.

However, in the midst of this, our God gave us a sure word. He would be with us. Notice the Bible didn’t say “if” you go through rivers of difficulty. It says when. That means it is a certainty of it happening. It is also assured that He would be with us.

Of course, I know that it may appear that He is not with us especially when we don’t feel, hear or see Him. It may appear He is not with us when we pray for a loved one to get well and they end up dying.

Meanwhile, regardless  of the outcomes of our situation, God will never abandon us. His ultimate goal is to get us into the place He has prepared for us where there would not be any more tragedy and pain. So, whether He takes us through it and delivers us here or He takes us home to heaven where there is unending joy, He will always be with us.

Prayer Points

  1. Thank You Lord for Your care for me
  2. Father help me to know you are always with me.
