There is one common recurring theme among many others throughout the bible that I love. I would like to share this with you. This theme was particularly common with the children of Israel on the way to their promised land. I hope it inspires confidence in you today.
During the journey of the children of Israel to the promised land, every time they defeat an opposition or win a battle, the next opposition in line usually becomes jittery and starts panicking. Though they may not show it, the foes start panicking because they know that sooner or later the children of Israel are coming for them. Consequently, they set several machinery in motion to appear not panicky.
One of the ways the foes respond is confederating with other allies so they are so many in number. This is an attempt to use this to strike fear in the heart of the children of Israel. Additionally, they could also securely shut the door to their land to prevent any access to the promised blessing. This was the situation with the children of Israel at the famous wall of Jericho.
Here is what Rahab who lived in Jericho said when he saw the spies from Israel. 10 For we have heard how the Lord made a dry path for you through the Red Sea[a] when you left Egypt. And we know what you did to Sihon and Og, the two Amorite kings east of the Jordan River, whose people you completely destroyed. 11 No wonder our hearts have melted in fear! No one has the courage to fight after hearing such things. For the Lord your God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below. Joshua 2:10-11.
Did you read what Rahab said? She was just mentioning one by one Israel’s victories, and who was responsible for them. Do you know that is what your opposition also thinks of you? That is why he’s pulling out all stops to stop you.
Unfortunately, instead of our past victories building confidence in us, we, the beneficiary, may start developing cold feet due to a new and formidable enemy. We have forgotten that the God-factor already is known to the enemy. He only wants to scare us away from what legally belongs to us.
Satan knows that God will always rescue His children in the final analysis. However, he likes to mess with the children's faith to render God unable to act.
Here is what to do. When the opposition becomes fierce, remember that it’s because he knows what you are capable of. So, don’t back down. God is on your side. You are guaranteed to win.
