Adversity Is Designed To Make You Stronger

Adversity Is Designed To Make You Stronger

Scriptures

“That was the beginning of a long war between those who were loyal to Saul and those loyal to David. As time passed David became stronger and stronger, while Saul’s dynasty became weaker and weaker.”

2 Samuel‬ 3:1‬

In the scripture above, we saw that enroute to David being as established as the king over the entire Israel, there were wars and opposition from the house of Saul his predecessor. The hostility from Saul had extended to his descendants and David’s. Eventually David’s household became stronger while Saul’s became weaker.

Battles and opposition to the promise and blessings of God for your life are inevitable. There would always be individuals raised up and stirred up by the devil to stand in the way of accomplishing God’s purpose for you. Even after David had run from the cave to the cities fleeing from Saul, he still had to face battles with his families.

There are other lessons to learn from this. Any warfare that you do not complete or any challenge that you don’t overcome would continue to the next generation. The baton of warfare from Saul was directly or indirectly passed on to his children who probably see David as a threat and usurper to what “is rightfully theirs.”

At the end of it all, the battle made David and his household stronger while Saul’s household became weaker. This teaches us not to give up regardless of any opposition. The opposition would eventually give up.

Finally, opposition is an opportunity for God to make us stronger and become effective in our purpose. Your adversity would only make you stronger if you follow through. The experience David gained from this battle with the household of Saul and other battles made him a formidable superpower so much that he never lost any battle throughout his lifetime.
