Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. Psalms 23:4.
I saw a funny meme picture on the internet a while back. It has the picture of a monkey with a rod in his hand attempting to beat a lion that was lying down. Then there was a caption written on it. "Only God knows what motivational speakers have told this monkey." Hopefully you get the joke.
The study for today is something you won't get to hear often. Knowing when to quit. There are more speeches and writings about staying put, working harder, giving it all than quitting. I get it. However, there are ventures that would not lead anywhere and we must quit doing them or we would just wear ourselves out.
To have supernatural prosperity, you must know when to quit a fruitless venture or one that has outlived its shelf life. Have you been in this situation before? What should you do? Even a useless venture that leads nowhere could also have the same intensity of difficulty as a venture that would succeed. How do you know the difference?
First, according to this scripture, the problem is knowledge. "...Be wise enough to know when to quit." The bible tells us in Prov 3:5-6, to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not depend on our own understanding. That means, we need to spend time presenting this to the Lord for directions. He knows whether we should quit or not.
Now, He could answer us in multiple ways. What are some of them?
- We can seek wise counsel of those who are experienced in building successful ventures and get answers.
- We can get more information about the venture and get answers. i.e. read more, study more, speak to those already in the venture.
- We can get answers in the place of prayer.
- We can get answers in the Word and,
- We can get answers while seeking time to meditate.
Don't try to force a useless venture or one that has outlived its usefulness. Know when to quit.
Prayer Points.
- Thank you Lord for this truth.
- Lord help me to acknowledge you in all my ways and not lean on my own understanding in Jesus name.
