Don't Waste Your Experience

Don't Waste Your Experience

Scriptures

“And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.” So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”” ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭3:2-4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Application

These scriptures tell us about Moses' experience while going about his business tending the flocks of Jethro, his father-in-law. He saw that a bush was burning but actually it wasn’t destroyed. He then decided to turn aside and figure out why this was happening. So, when he turned aside to look, God called his name.

Though I have read this story for years, I have never thought about it this way until the Holy Spirit dropped it in my spirit. In order to go higher with God, there must be a burning bush experience which the Lord would use to draw you to Him. Your response to it would determine the trajectory of your life in God.

Many of us have had burning bush experiences but wasted them. A burning bush experience is any supernatural event that God is using to try to get your attention in order to experience a closer walk with Him. For some, the burning bush experience would be a dream, vision, an awakening moment never thought of. For others it would be seeing a person doing something they’ve never seen before. For example, it could be an individual calling on God and doing what appears to be impossible.

Sometimes, it could also come through reading a book of someone who has walked closer with God and something triggers in your spirit. Other times it could be watching a video or listening to a CD or even reading the Bible.

However, as important as these moments are, the most important thing is the appropriate response. To get the intended purpose, you’d need to press in just like Moses did. Grab that little opening with both hands. Turn aside and look.

Your pressing in could be skipping meals to fast and pray. Or it could be engaging in a deeper study of the bible. You may need to invest in CDs or other music downloads to deepen your hunger and thirst for God.

Whatever you do, don’t waste your burning bush experience. It is God trying to get your attention. Press into God. Go in deeper and go up higher.

Prayer Points

  1. My Father my Father, thank You for opening my eyes to this truth.
  2. Father in the name of Jesus, help me not to waste my burning bush experience.
