Find Your David

Find Your David

Scriptures
18 After this there was a battle with the Philistines at Gob, during which Sibbecai from Hushah killed a giant named Saph.  19 There was another battle with the Philistines at Gob, and Elhanan son of Jair[a] from Bethlehem killed Goliath from Gath, whose spear had a shaft as thick as the bar on a weaver's loom.
20 Then there was another battle at Gath, where there was a giant who loved to fight. He had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot. 21 He defied the Israelites, and Jonathan, the son of David's brother Shammah, killed him.  22 These four were descendants of the giants of Gath, and they were killed by David and his men. 2 Sam 21:18-22.

Application

The scriptures above tell us about David's men killing giants after having spent time with him. For a complete picture, you can start reading about these men here: “Then others began coming—men who were in trouble or in debt or who were just discontented—until David was the captain of about 400 men.” I Samuel 22:2. They were nothing when they met David.

To go to the next level that God has ordained for you, you need to find your David. Your David is the person that God has destined for you to be connected with. Your David is the front line person that has been designed by God to bring down Goliath, fight some dangerous battles, and accomplish what is unusual to you.

If you don't have a David, it might be impossible to kill a Goliath because because you have not been anointed to do it. If you have been anointed for it, you have not matured, grown or hone the skills.

It could also be impossible to bring if you don't have connection to persons doing it. Your David is the person that the big goal you are trying to accomplish is small in their eyes because they have gotten seasoned experience doing it. Your David could be your boss, Pastor, a friend, colleague, coach etc.

If you are fortunate to be under a David, you will undergo much training, which is actually disguised in real life situations. Your David would make demands of you. Some would be inconvenient and others may not be. If you turn down inconvenient demands often, you will not be able to kill your Goliath or other giants.

If you are not experiencing the same victory as your David does, be patient and continue in the training. If you are not obedient, you will not experience the same result as your David.  Be patient.

The training period with your David may take a while. There would be difficult and trying moments that would make you want to lose faith in your David. Don't. This happened with David’s men. At a point they wanted to stone him when they lost everything (I Samuel 30:6).

Your David is not perfect and has flaws. Your David has blindspots. So do you. Being able to accept this and still accord him or her the honor of being your leader would do you good.

You might be faster and know some things more than your David but he or she is still David and you are not. He is still the one designed by God for that purpose. So, find your David.

Prayer Points

  1. Father, thank you for this insight and for opening my eyes
  2. Lord, help me to submit to my David
  3. Lord help me to accept my David including flaws, ignorance and all knowing the person is still a human being.
