How To Deal With Pain

How To Deal With Pain

17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18.

All over the world, our lives have forever changed from the end of 2019 till now.  A pandemic that has never been known before invaded every country in the world. It didn't discriminate between the rich or the poor nor the high and mighty.

As it infected the homeless on streets, it didn't spare the President of the United States in the White House or the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on 10 Downing Street.

Meanwhile, the scriptures above encourage us today that these troubles that we currently experience would not last forever. Because it would not last forever, we should not be carried away by them. We should not become hopeless or depressed. They are things that we see.

The Lord over 2,000 years ago predicted these things would happen. More importantly, He also gave us assurance that ultimately this world as it is would be recreated. Everything would be destroyed. All the diseases would be gone. This present world is not our permanent home.

Another way to look at the scripture of today is personal. You are probably going through some personal troubles right now. If you are trying to start a business, go back to school, start a work or get married it is possible that you'd face troubles and challenges. It is to discourage you.

Don't fix your gaze or attention on the troubles because they cannot be compared with the glory of success that awaits you when you overcome them. Fix your gaze on the result that you expect. Focus your faith on the Big God who has promised to bring you through it. Won't He do it?

Prayer Points

  1. Thank you Father for this truth.
  2. Lord, help me to see me, the way you see me.
  3. Help me not to make a permanent decision based on temporary pain.
  4. Help me to know that you have a battle.
