Scripture
This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, I Tim 1:18.
Application
Warfare Prayers
“..that by them you may wage the good warfare.” I Tim 1:18.
Another requirement for a prophetic word or promise to come to pass is warfare prayers. The above scripture tells that several prophetic utterances have been made concerning Timothy. Some of this could have been what he was going to become regarding his ministry.
Meanwhile, the Apostle Paul is familiar with the pranks of Satan. He doesn't want Timothy to just be celebrating the prophetic words but to ensure their fulfillment. He then gave him an admonition that this is two fold.
First, he should use the prophetic word as an assurance to wage a good warfare knowing that sure words had gone ahead of him and victory is guaranteed. The second dimension is to wage warfare so that the prophecies could be fulfilled. Plainly, use your prophecies (as the basis) to pray warfare prayers. Also, pray warfare prayers so you can see your promises and prophecies become reality.
Full Attention
"...give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all." I Tim 4:15b.
Another key element for the fulfillment of promises and prophetic declarations is committing yourself completely to those prophecies/declarations. Giving full undivided attention to the fulfillment of the word means doing everything possible to ensure that it comes to pass. It should include prayers, fasting, vigil, seeking God, looking for prime opportunities to sow seed, deep study of the word of God that pertains to that prophetic word etc.
Also, you must do everything possible to avoid distraction from Satan through doubts, unbelief, unforgiveness, sins that easily traps you, pride etc. It is when all these have been done mostly privately, that the fulfillment of the promises or prophecies could manifest publicly.
Prayer Points
- Lord, thank You for Your Word and for opening my eyes.
- Lord help me to regularly apply what you have opened my eyes to.
