How Your Clothing Determines Whether You Win Or Lose

Scriptures

Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, 2 Sam 6:14

Application

There are so many scriptures that show us the many sides of David. He functioned in different capacities. I called this the garments of David. This is to symbolize the many roles that David was called to play. He was a priest, prophet, shepherd, warrior, psalmist, king, administrator, poet, father, son, statesman, inventor etc. Each role requires a different garment.

This could also be personified as some of the many sides of God. Depending on how God is relating to a particular situation, we see Him in a different light. For example, in the old testament He could be Jehovah Rapha (healer), Jireh(provider), Tsidkenu (righteousness) etc. That is why He said I am. You cannot pin Him down into one thing. So also, David put on the garment based on the situation.

The application for us today is that when we pray, or in our life, we must take cognizance of this. The problem is that when we are supposed to put on the garment of a warrior, sometimes we put on that of a psalmist. Don't get me wrong. There are battles that will be won as a psalmist but majority of our battles would be won as a warrior.

Also, in prayer, there are times when we are to put on the garment of a prophet, making decrees and rebuking the work of evil, but we are begging God to do the work for us. We must know the appropriate garment to wear so that we can be effective and not pray amiss. Discern your situation and wear the appropriate garment for victory.

Prayer Point

1. Father thank you for your word.

2. Father, help me to be discerning of my situation to respond correctly.
