When Things Don't Work Out Like God Said

When Things Don't Work Out Like God Said

Scriptures
When the Lord spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt, he said to him, “I am the Lord ! Tell Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, everything I am telling you.” But Moses argued with the Lord, saying, “I can’t do it! I’m such a clumsy speaker! Why should Pharaoh listen to me?” Exodus 6:28‭-‬30 NLT

Application

Have you ever done something you perceived God told you to do and the opposite Happened? Then read on. You will feel relieved.

Although it appears hidden or buried in the chapter, these verses provide an inside look into the struggles and real life experience of one the most favored and highly anointed servant of God in history. Moses did what God told him to do without the promised result. Instead, the opposite happened.

God called Moses to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt. Once, their oppressor got wind of it, the situation worsened as the Egyptians now refused to provide straws to make bricks. Consequently, Moses thought it was his weakness that caused the situation to worsen. He thought he was the problem. Exodus 5:22-23 “Then Moses turned again to the Lord… Why did You ever send me? For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he Has done evil to this people…” because of his weakness.

If you are a child of God, this is also applicable and very useful for you today. First, there would be times when God would put you in a situation where you may think less of yourself. I know I have.

Second, it is possible for you to do everything the Lord instructs you to do, and there appears to be no result. The situation could also worsen. You may automatically attribute it to your weaknesses, unworthiness or sin. “It may be because of me.” Just like Moses did.

Fortunately, Moses’ behind the scenes moment gives us hope and should reassure us. In fact, it should be a confidence booster. He did everything God told him and the situation didn’t improve. What did he do? He stuck to the plan. We must also stick to what God has said.

When things don’t work out like God said, you will be afraid and tempted to abandon His initial instructions. Just do like Moses did and stick to the plan. If the Lord provides additional instructions you can follow it. Else, leave it to Him to work it out. It will work out. It always does.

Prayer Points

  1. Thank you Father for this word and for caring for me
  2. Father, help me to trust You even if the situation worsens after I have done all I can in Jesus Name Amen.
