You Need To Leave Your Comfort Zone

You Need To Leave Your Comfort Zone

Scriptures

“Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.” Gen 22:2.

Application

In the scripture verse for today, it described how God told Abraham to take his beloved son Isaac, whom he had waited for 25 years to have to the land of Moriah.

As I was meditating earlier on the various ways God has tested my faith, it brought some ideas to my mind about God's blueprint for the "major blessing". I came to the conclusion that the “major blessing” lies beyond our comfort zone.

If you are not familiar with the story, God promised Abraham that He would make him a blessing. He would make him a great nation and from him all the nations of the earth would be blessed. God promised and guaranteed him descendants and gave him Isaac as a start. So it seemed sort of contradictory that God would ask him to go and sacrifice that only son again. There are some basic truths this should teach us.

First, getting a major blessing would require that you be tested in letting go of the most precious, convenient and comfortable thing to you. Second, a major blessing doesn't kick in until you are beyond your comfort zone. The requirement for the major blessing for Abraham was that he should let go sacrifice his beloved son Isaac as God tested him. Then when he was pushed beyond his comfort zone generational blessings were unleashed on him.

If you desire a big blessing, be prepared to go beyond your comfort zone or familiar environment. It could be leaving that cushy job or relocating to a new city where you know nobody. It is where literally speaking there is no safety net. It is either God shows up or you are stranded. Don’t be afraid because you won’t.

So, get out of your comfort zone and let God show up for you just as He did for Abraham.

Prayer Points

1. Lord, thank you for this word.

2. Lord, help me to pass my test.
