Scripture
“17 (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who...calls those things which do not exist as though they did;”
As a follower of Christ, you would get to situations in your life when God doesn't make sense. His instructions to you could make you appear as a fool compared to common sense, logical reasoning or popular opinion. Your current situation would also mock you.
The journey to financial freedom is no exception. With God, the instructions we obey would determine whether we receive our promised reward.
You are familiar with Abram & Sarai, our faith parents. Abram and Sarai were barren for several years with no children of theirs. When the appointed time for God to intervene in their lives came, He gave Abram an instruction. “Change your name from Abram (exalted father) to Abraham (father of many nations). While you are at it, change your wife's name too to Sarah.” (Gen 17:5, 15). Think about the humiliation Abram must have received from his family and friends. Abram, "how are you buddy?" He would correct them. “Oh sorry I changed my name. My name is now Abraham. I am a father of many nations.” They would probably be whispering and be making fun of him behind his back. “This guy is going senile. Old age is finally getting to him.”
Do you know at some point in your life, God would make you take actions that would make the world call you a fool? I remember the story of a servant of God who is now renowned as an authority in success and leadership. He told God, “you promised me that folks are going be inviting me left and right to teach, but I am a shadow of myself.” He said the Lord told him to start teaching people the principles of success. He told the Lord, “but I am not a success myself. I still need to be successful first.” Thankfully he obeyed the Lord and suffered humiliation. Today he is an authority in that same area.
That was also my story when the Lord told me to start teaching the principles of financial success. In fact, it got to a point that my wife had an issue with it because of our financial situation at the time. However, I responded that we have to obey the Lord. Eventually, the situation caught up with the word of God.
Don’t forget God always calls those things which are not as though they were (Romans 4:17). Noticed not those things that are not as though they are. That would be lying (Satan’s language). Also not things as they are. That is unbelief (human being’s language). But, those things which are not as though they were. God’s creative language.
Go ahead and be God’s fool. Only those who are God’s fools receive the promised reward and make history!
