You Can Start Small

Scriptures 

Zechariah 4:10 Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” 

Application 

This scripture verse lends further credence that God's way is not our way. As human beings, we are attracted to big things, and celebrate big accomplishments. Small things and small beginnings are usually despised and not applauded. The majority would not believe in a dream until it actually happens. Let us contrast that with our Big God. He actually celebrates small beginnings. He rejoices when He sees a small work begin. That little step that you consider insignificant actually pleases Him. I believe this could be due to these factors. 

First, the Lord prides in conscientious obedience to his instructions than any intentions no matter how lofty. Second, the Lord knows that for everyone that steps out to start small, hundreds if not thousands are afraid to do so. I was shocked that only 3% of those that want to be authors actually do become one. Essentially, the Lord knows it takes faith for you to step out and faith is what pleases God according to the book of Hebrews 11:6. 

Third, small beginnings are seeds.  In them are the big accomplishments. We can’t get to the big dreams and accomplishments that the Lord has for us without starting small.  God is a God of humble beginnings.

So, go ahead and start small. Your God rejoices to see you take that small step towards your business, life long dream, college degree, marriage and is applauding you.
