Application
Do you remember when things were challenging for you and you weren't as comfortable? Or perhaps you just accomplished a lifelong dream? Maybe you just got promoted, or came into successes in your business? Stay humble.
One of the temptations you will regularly face in your journey over this life is staying humble as God begins to lift you up. Going up higher, though could be difficult in some circumstances, is not as challenging as remaining at the top. You have probably heard of stories of top CEOs who were fired from the job because of sexual harassing their subordinates.
When you accomplish what has eluded you for a while, it could be tempting to feel invincible and filled with pride. Satan would fill your mind with all sorts of possibilities that could destroy you. You need to resist him and remember where you came from.
Pride brought down Satan from his position as an angel from heaven. In this reading of today also, King Nebuchadnezzar was brought down by God because of pride. God had warned him in a dream, but he did repent. Twelve months later he lost his position.
The cure for pride is gratefulness and continuous recognition of God as the source of your blessings. If you continue to give thanks to God for what He has done, He will continue to take you higher. If you have been brought down by God, go back to recognizing Him as the source and start giving Him all the credit.
Prayer Points
- Father, thank You for bringing me this far.
- Father, remove pride from my heart and help me to stay humble.
